Class description:
Passport to a Journey of the Imagination
Whether you travel the world or rarely venture far from home, our lives are a journey in themselves, and our inner lives, a journey of the imagination.
Scrapbooks and photo albums may hold evidence of our outer journeys, but this Passport will be a unique relic of our inner journeying.
Using vintage papers, book parts, found items and ephemera, we will create a pamphlet stitched passport book, complete with a self portrait of our alter ego, mementos of inner journeys, pocket pages of precious papers, and a fold out map of our imaginary land.
All art is autobiographical. This personal Passport will be a record of our own, ongoing inner journey.

Class description:
Telling My Story / Making My Book
An exploration into our unique stories, discovering a personal language. Working within the format of book altering, artists will exploretheir unique stories, accessing childhhod memories and identifying a personal language of symbols and imagery they can use to tell their tales. Melissa will demonstrate various techniques she uses, from mixed media collage, to digitally altered imagery, to composing "found poetry." In this fun and experimental workshop, participants will re-create an existing book to tell their story... the story of themselves and their art.
